IS THE ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR INTRODUCTION COURSE AND THE ONLINE COURSE THE SAME? ↓
The Associate Instructor coursework is comprised of only Part 1: Introduction Series. The Online Course is comprised of Part 1 and Part 2 which consists of much more extensive material. It is ‘unlimited viewing’ and includes a 1-year subscription to the YOQI Video on Demand library.
- The Introduction Series is not meant to be done alone, it is the firt step in the program. All Associate Instructors are required to complete the full Online Course and become Certified Instructors.
HOW DO I MEET THE REQUIRED HOURS TO BECOME AN ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR (A.I.) OR CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR (C.I.)? ↓
- ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR 100 HOURS: An Asscoiate instructor must complete 100 hours of coursework. From the Introduction Series (8 hours) + Live Immersion (50 Hours) + Home practice video/personal (42 Hours) Practice hours for the Introduction Series include the Introduction Series practice and video on demand practices only. They do not include practices from Part 2 of the program. Please download the Practice Guide in the Intro Secton of the ALL COURSE DOWNLOADS for information on what is required.
- CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR 200 HOURS: Associate Instructor 100 hours + Part 2 Online Course + Home practice video/personal (100 Hours)
- The 200 hours Certified Instructor level includes 100 hours from Part 1 of becoming an Associate Instructor. This means that once you are an Associate Instructor you have 100 more hours to complete to become a Certified Instructor. These 100 hours include practice videos from Part 2 of the course called The Six Phases of Qi Flow. It is common that your practice hours will exceed 50 hours of self practice. If so, this is great. You do not need to document that, but if you want you can. The more you practice the better teacher you will be.
CAN I BECOME A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR BY COMPLETING ALL THE ONLINE MODULES BUT NOT ATTENDING AN IMMERSION TRAINING? ↓
No, to become an Associate Instructor or a Certified Instructor you must attend a live Immersion. Anyone is welcome to participate in the Live Immersions or online training without becoming certified.
- To become a YOQI Qigong Flow Associate Instructor one must attend the Module 1 Live Immersion and complete the Introduction Series reflection assignments including home practice (total 100 hours) and enroll in the M1 complete Online Course.
- To become a YOQI Qigong Flow Certified Instructor one must attend the Module 1 Live Immersion and complete the full Module 1 Online Coursework + 1 video presentation. (total 200 hours)
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE OF COURSE WORK BETWEEN AN ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR AND CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR? ↓
An Associate Instructor and Certified Instructor have the same criteria except for the completion of the Online Course/practice hours and final testing. An Associate Instructor (100 hours) will only complete the Introduction Series while a Certified Instructor (200 hours) will complete all 7 Series and have a final testing.
WHAT ARE THE 9 CORE PRACTICES? ↓
There are nine core practices to be familiar with in the Video on Demand library before joining a live immersion:
- The Inner Smile Meditation
- The Six Healing Sounds
- Dantian Activation 1 (Located in Online Course M1.1-5)
- Three Forces Standing Meditation
- Qigong Flow for a Happy Spleen
- Qigong Flow for Happy Lungs
- Qigong Flow for Happy Kidneys
- Qigong Flow for a Happy Liver
- Qigong Flow for a Happy Heart
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF BECOMING A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR VS. AN ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR? ↓
An Associate Instructor is just the first step to become a Certified Instructor. It is not the end of the training. The Associate Instructor is designed so that you can start teaching Qigong right away, while you continue to finish the coursework. Both Associate and Certified instructors can teach all the practices in the Module 1 Course except for Iron Shirt, and Body of Light Fusion (until tested either by live video or live instruction). Both Associate and Certified Instructors can submit their contact information on the YOQI Instructor Directory page.
A Certified Instructor has additional benefits such as:
- The opportunity to assist Marisa during 9-day Live Immersions
- Usage of the ‘YOQI Certified Instructor’ logo
- For Yoga Studio or Holistic Healing Studio owners only, usage of YOQI brand name on their class schedule (subject to applicable terms and conditions)
- 50% off tuition for a repeated Module 1, 9-day immersion
- Eligability to become a YOQI Ambassador (in 2024)
- Live testing for advanced practices (Iron Shirt and Body of Light Fusion)
WHAT ARE THE TERMS OF USAGE OF THE YOQI LOGO FOR CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS? ↓
YOQI is a registered trademark of Marisa Cranfill. The YOQI logo cannot be used by anyone except for YOQI. The YOQI Certified Instructor logo can be used by all Certified Instructors. Read more on our Instructor Guidelines page here.
HOW DOES THE YOQI INSTRUCTOR DIRECTORY WORK? ↓
The YOQI Instructor Directory is a way for people to find YOQI instructors in their communities around the world. It is also a great way for YOQI instructors to connect to one another in the same city. The Instructor Directory also includes a private instructor forum where you can write questions, comments and exchange ideas with all YOQI Instructors. To be on the instructor directory, you need to be an Associate or Certified Instructor. To add your information to the directory simply fill out the form and attach a photo of your certificate. View Instructor Directory here
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE ONE ONLINE COURSE MODULE?↓
The suggested time to complete one module is six months to one year. It takes time to digest and assimilate energy. We do not advocate rushing. By purchasing one online module you have unlimited viewing access to that on-line program. The program is designed to be a resource of information that you can always return to to refresh your knowledge and practice.
THERE IS POOR INTERNET WHERE I AM GOING. CAN I DOWNLOAD THE COURSE VIDEOS? ↓
The online course can not be downloaded. We are working on other mediums that do not require internet such has a DVD set and a YOQI M1 course App.
WHAT ARE THE TRAINING HOURS OF THE ONLINE COURSEWORK?↓
Associate Instructor (100 Hours) : Live Immersion (50 hrs) + Introduction Series (8 hours) + VOD library and self practice (42 hours)
Certified Instructor (200 Hours)- Includes 100 AI hours + Part 2 of the Module 1 Online Course + VOD library and self practice (100 hours).
WHAT IF I FINISH PART 1, INTRODUCTION SERIES, BEFORE I TAKE A LIVE IMMERSION? CAN I MOVE ON TO PART 2? HOW WILL THE HOURS BE DOCUMENTED? ↓
Yes, it is common that people begin Part 2 before attending a live immersion and that is fine. However, there are some things to be aware of: Part 1, the Introduction Series practice hours total 100 hours. 50 of those hours come from a live immersion. The other 50 hours come from Introduction series practices and Video on Demand practices. If you move on to the Attune Series before a live immersion, you can cap your Introduction Series hours at 50 and start recording your hours for the second series separately. When you finish the live immersion you will complete 100 hours for your Associate Instructor certificate and already be ahead and on your way to full certifiation. Please note:
To become an Associate Instructor, you need to complete 50 hours of practice, plus the introduction series assignment questions and attend a live immersion.
To get your Associate Instructor Certificate at an immersion you must submit the 50 practice hours and your homework before the immersion.
If you do not submit the hours before the immersion, you can complete them within one year after the immersion and a digital certificate will be sent to you.
If you do not complete the practice hours and homework within a year, your certification status will be paused and you will need to attend a second live immersion (for 50% off tuition price). While you do not need to complete an immersion before moving onto Part 2 of the course, it is recommended to do so.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO ALLOCATE TO STUDY PER WEEK?↓
Part 1: The Introduction Course can take 8 weeks to complete.
Part 2: The Six Phases takes 6-8 weeks to complete each series for a total of 48 weeks. To complete one module in a 12-month period (150 hours of online practice and home study), it will take an estimated 3+ hours per week. To complete one module in a 6-month period (150 hours of online practice and home study), it will take an estimated 6+ hours per week. It's up to you and your lifestyle.
Each Series has a suggested weekly schedule of practices. The course is designed in a way that will guide you through the practices. Practice involves one dynamic yang practice and one seated yin meditation or yin yoga practice, and watching lecture.. It is not recommended to mix more than four different practices from one series in one week. Choose four videos in a series and stick to them during the week. This is all explained in the coursework.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY DOCUMENTED HOURS? ↓
The On-line training course requires 100 hours (A.I.) or 200 hours (C.I.) of practice per module. These hours can be accrued through: the live immersion training (50 hours) on-line training program practice videos and audio meditations (not lectures) video on demand library videos meditations and self-practice To document your hours is simple. Just keep a log of your home practice hours with the date, name of practice and whether it is a video or self-practice on your own (for example: 10/1/2022 1 hour, video Purge 2, Meridian Bean Bag routine, 10/2/2022 30 minutes, self practice Inner Smile). Turn in this log with the assignments. This is also explained in the course manual. Submit these hours for each series seperately on the Teacher Directory. For example in the Attune series you will submit one page of practice hours for the Attune Series coursework.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE A VIDEO FOR A FINAL PROJECT?↓
Not to become an Associate Instructor. Yes to become a Certified Instructor. The alternative option is to teach a live class to a YOQI senior instructor.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED ASSIGNMENTS AND PRACTICES TO DO BEFORE A LIVE IMMERSION? ↓
Before you attend a live immersion to become an Associate Instructor, it is required to complete the Introduction Series and corresponding assignments in the Online training course and practice the 9 core practice videos.
Please download the Practice Guide for the Introduction Series in the ALL COURSE DOWNLOADS category, to help you with what is accepted as Practices, and the Practice Log to log your hours, all practice hours are to be typed on the document provided.
Please upload your Practice hours to your Yoqi Directory when there is the full total of 100 hours, 50 hours self practice and 50 hours from attending an Imemrsion. Upload your 100 practice hours after you have attended an Immersion. Please remember to total your hours at the bottom of the document, and put your name, date and email address at the top of the page.
Note that you do not need to complete the Attune Series or any other series, although it's great if you do! Here is a check list to complete before the live immersion:
- Complete all Introduction Series lectures and practices (download the Practice Guide in the All COURSE DOWNLOADS for information on practices)
- Complete Introduction Series Assignment Questions (at the end of the Introduction Series PDF manual) and upload to your Yoqi Directory
- Take the Test: Test Your Qi
- M1.INTRO.MYELEMENT.pdf (In M1-INTRO.4 ENERGY MAPS)
- Practice and become familiar with the 9 Core Practices
- Optional: visit a Traditional Chinese Doctor near you and have them diagnose your pulse and tongue.
I AM TAKING THE ONLINE COURSE. HOW DO I USE THE VIDEO ON DEMAND LIBRARY TO COMPLIMENT THE COURSE MATERIAL?↓
There are two main ways I recommend to use the video on demand library to supplement the course:
- Focus on the 9 core routines. Seven of them are in the library.
- Practice the Seasonal Series that matches your season where you live or matches the Series you are working on in the Course. For example if you are working on Attune Series, do the Late Summer Series in the library. Or if it is Spring in your country, then use the Spring Series to supplement your Online Course practices.
I AM ALSO TAKING A COURSE WITH ANOTHER QIGONG INSTRUCTOR. CAN I USE THAT COURSE AS DOCUMENTED PRACTICE HOURS? ↓
No. The self practice hours for the YOQI program reflect home practice, not group training hours with another system or instructor. The reason for self-practice is to master the forms on your own without being dependent upon a video or instructor, so they should include both video practices and self practices without videos. In this way you can learn through your own experience and internal wisdom. You can also take your time and move at your own pace. Also the YOQI program self practice hours are specifically regarding YOQI practices. Although there may be some exercises that are the same or similar between YOQI and other qigong styles or teachers, the hours should reflect YOQI practices.
WHAT ARE ASSIGNMENT QUESTIONS?↓
Please watch the first two videos in the online course for a visual guide to this answer. Throughout each module you will be asked useful assignment questions that correspond to the coursework. This is not a research paper or serious thesis! Assignment questions are a way to integrate the learning, reflect on your own experience and track the development of your practice. Please use your own words and do not copy answers from the PDF manual. Since I wrote the manual, I know my own voice and I really want to hear yours. Also, included in the assignment for Attune, Purge etc.,(not Intro series) on the is an exercise to design your own Qigong Flow Classes. Often students use these classes they have designed when they start teaching others. Guidelines to Submit Assignment Questions:
Upload to your Yoqi Directory.- Assignment questions should be submitted for each Series before you begin the next series. For example, submit the Introduction Series Questions before beginning Attune Series. All Assignment questions are in Word Format.
- Save your document as a WORD file (not a PDF) so that comments by instructors can be easily made and sent back to you.
- Save the name of document file with your name, assignment, and Series, and date and upload to your Teacher Directory profile. For example: SusanAssignmentAttuneSeries.doc Date:
WHAT IS A REFLECTION JOURNAL? ↓
A reflection Journal is for you to write down your experiences during training. For many people writing an energetic experience helps to integrate the subconscious mind and the conscious mind. Throughout the course there will be optional reflections assignments that are for your own personal use. You do not need to submit this information as an assignment.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO ATTEND A FULL IMMERSION TEACHER TRAINING WHERE EVERYTHING IS TAUGHT LIVE?↓
Not yet. At the moment the immersion trainings are 9 days trainings per module. In the future we may combine modules into longer training periods, but it would be a lot to digest. All the practices can’t be covered extensively in one 9-Day Immersion. This is why the corresponding On-Line Training Course is designed to support the Immersion and to review the practices after the Immersion. It is possible to attend an Immersion without the On-Line Course, but studies show that repetition is the best form of learning.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ONE LIVE IMMERSION PER MODULE? ↓
To become certified, yes
WHY DO I HAVE TO ATTEND THE LIVE IMMERSION TO BECOME A CERTIFIED YOQI INSTRUCTOR? ↓
Qigong is learned through experience. It is important to attend the live immersions to become an instructor because we will do hands on adjustments, qi transmission and partner work. YOQI team instructors are there to give feedback and corrections. Training with a group energy is also different from training alone and for many people can empower their practice and take it to another level.
HOW MANY LIVE IMMERSIONS DO I HAVE TO DO TO COMPLETE A MODULE? I LIVE OUT OF THE COUNTRY, SO IN OTHER WORDS, HOW MANY OVERSEAS TRIPS DO I NEED TO MAKE? ↓
One live immersion per module. That would be one trip per module- totally three trips.
WHAT IF I ONLY WANT TO TEACH QIGONG FLOW, BUT NOT YOGA?↓
Once you complete Module 1 and the Module 1 Live Immersion, you will be certified as a Certfied Instructor to teach Qigong Flow. You can stop there if you like. Module 2 & 3 are a Qigong and Yoga fusion, so they are not only Yoga. They also include more advanced Qigong practices not taught in Module 1.
WHEN WILL MODULE 2 AND MODULE 3 BE AVAILABLE?↓
In 2024. We are currently focused on training Module 1 Instructors.
DO I HAVE TO HAVE PRIOR YOGA EXPERIENCE TO TAKE MODULE 2 AND MODULE 3? ↓
No.
I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CERTIFIED YOQI YIN INSTRUCTOR. DO I HAVE TO TAKE MODULE 1 BEFORE TAKING MODULE 2? ↓
Yes, it is required to take M1 before M2. Module 2 builds on Module 1.
I AM ALREADY A CERTIFIED YOGA INSTRUCTOR. DO I NEED TO TAKE MODULE 2 AND MODULE 3 TO BE FULLY CERTIFIED? ↓
Yes, YOQI is different from the way Hatha Yoga is traditionally taught and these modules incorporate more advanced Qigong practices not taught in Module 1.
DO I NEED TO FINISH ALL THE SERIES IN THE MODULE 1 ONLINE COURSE BEFORE I PARTICIPATE IN THE LIVE IMMERSION? ↓
No, but it is highly recommended to complete the Introduction practices and the Attune Series portion of the On-Line Training Course. This will take about 4 months to complete.
CAN I PURCHASE MODULE 1 AND SEE IF I LIKE THE PROCESS AND THEN DECIDE WHETHER TO CONTINUE?↓
Yes.
CAN I GET CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT WITH YOGA ALLIANCE BY TAKING A YOQI COURSE?↓
We are currently working on this.
WHAT CREDIBILITY DOES A YOQI CERTIFICATION GIVE ME TO TEACH?↓
After completion of Module 1, the student will receive a ‘YOQI Qigong Associate Instructor Certification’. This gives them the ability to start teaching Module 1 (Qigong Fundamentals). A Certified YOQI Qigong Instructor has completed more hours of training.
After completion of the Course Work and Live Immersion and for all 3 Modules and the final Teacher Training Immersion, the teacher in training will be a ‘500 Hour YOQI Certified Instructor’ which is also a YOQI Senior Instructor. Combining yoga and Qigong makes Qigong more accessible and can be easily integrated into Yoga studios which gives you a greater opportunity of locations to teach at.
We are currently working on forming the Global Qigong Alliance, a nonprofit association representing the qigong community to which you will be able to receive further accreditation status. YOQI is quickly growing and we are in the process of publishing and making YOQI a well known qigong style.
WHAT WOULD THE NEXT BE STEP AFTER I AM A CERTIFIED YOQI TEACHER?↓
You will be certified to teach YOQI at yoga studios, healing centers, private, spas etc... In the Teacher Training Immersion we talk about how to structure a business and build your brand as a teacher. Private coaching sessions by Marisa are also available for your personal branding, how to make videos, take photos, social media, travel to teach, set up your business etc...
CAN ONE PAY BY INSTALLMENTS AND STILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE OVERALL DISCOUNT?↓
One On-Line Training Module can be paid over a three or 6 month period. The 30% discount code can’t be used on the YOQI website payment plan due to technical reasons. If you would like to pay in installments with the discount code, you can arrange to pay through Pay Pal to yoqi.yogaqigong@gmail.com.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A STUDENT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES YOQI TRAINING? DOES A GRADUATE GET INTEGRATED INTO A BROADER YOQI CAREER PROGRAM? WHAT DO GRADUATES GO ON TO DO?↓
The YOQI Instructor Certification program gives you the freedom to create your own brand of Qigong Flow or join the YOQI instructor collective as a YOQI ambassador. The YOQI Ambassador program will start in 2023. Creating your own brand of Qigong Flow means that you are on your own to promote your own name and produce your own unique material. You will still be a part of the YOQI community but will represent your own individual brand.
Becoming a YOQI Ambassador means that you would like to represent the YOQI brand, through your workshops, classes, Yoga Studio, Wellness Studio, material and social media. By joining the YOQI membership you have the opportunity to audition for YOQI Global and YOQI Productions to produce your videos in English or your native language and receive royalties from YOQI for your videos. By representing the YOQI brand you are a brand ambassador and will be supported through YOQI marketing and events. We will introduce this program in 2023.
To review, once you are certified there are two directions you can take with your own business:
- CREATE YOUR OWN BRAND OF QIGONG FLOW OR QI FLOW “Certified YOQI instructor”
- PRESENT YOURSELF AS A CERTIFIED YOQI INSTRUCTOR “Certified Instructor”
This information and other ways to grow a Qigong business is further explained in the YOQI Module 1 Training Course.
